I am currently on spouse visa but due to certain reasons want it to change into residence visa. Pls advice.?

Please advise how to get my dependent visa converted into independant visaI am currently on spouse visa but due to certain reasons want it to change into residence visa. Pls advice.?
You wouldn't be able to change it unless you were qualified for something else. Are you in immigrant status now or some sort of nonimmigrant status? If you are an H4, for example, you would not normally be qualified for resident status unless your spouse adjusted status through the sponsorship of their employer. You could adjust with your spouse, but not without your spouse. Otherwise, you would have to qualify in some manner independently of your spouse, but you can't simply apply for an immigrant visa on your own, someone would have to sponsor you and file the proper paperwork before you could apply for the visa.I am currently on spouse visa but due to certain reasons want it to change into residence visa. You'll have to check with immigration. Spouse visa gives a bypass to the lottery as well as fast-track options to become a citizen. I doubt that you can convert it because at this point, your spouse is financially responsible to support you for a period of time. Since I suspect your reasons are due to an impending divorce, I've included the link below which answers some questions.
That's going to be very difficult to do. You'll need to show that you won't be dependent on public funds, which means that you either have to have a very good job already or a lot of money in the bank. If there is any way at all to stay on the spouse visa you should do it.
